Student Service Hours
STUDENTS
We ask for a six month commitment for adults who are interested in volunteering at the shelter. Students who are looking for short term volunteer opportunities to fulfill service hours for middle school, high school or college requirements can complete those through HES in one of two ways and do not need to attend an orientation class at the shelter.
HES Boutique and Thrift - Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer by themselves. Volunteers ages 12-15 are eligible to volunteer with a parent volunteering alongside of them. Students wishing to complete their community service hours at the thrift store will need to fill out the thrift store volunteer application below.

Tuesday Enrichment Night – Join a crew of volunteers to help make enrichment treats in bulk for both dogs and cats. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer by themselves. Volunteers between the ages 12-15 are eligible to volunteer with a parent volunteering alongside of them. All students who wish to complete their community service hours at the shelter must sign up in advance below.
GROUPS
Thank you for your interest in potential group volunteer opportunities!
We offer Corporate Service Days for company groups.
The Volunteer Services Manager will work with you to schedule a day for your group to serve at the shelter. We currently welcome groups of up to 10 on select days throughout the month. Larger groups may be considered on a case by case basis depending on the needs of the shelter.
Please note Corporate Service Days must be scheduled 30 days in advance and we ask all corporate service groups perform a donation drive for some of our most needed items in advance.
Typically, service groups help with general cleaning (washing dishes, doing laundry, mopping floors, etc.) or if the weather is tolerable, we have them work on projects outdoors such as spreading mulch on our dog walking trails, washing the windows outdoors etc.
Corporate Service Days help your employees build relationships with their team, establish goodwill within the community, and improve company culture. We welcome corporate service groups who are ready to roll up their sleeves to help homeless animals. Please email the Volunteer Services Manager details about your group by clicking the button below.
