HES Art Camp is a four-hour, animal-themed art experience that includes humane education and an animal encounter for kids in grades 2 - 6.

Campers will spend most of their camp time creating an artistic piece focusing on animals.   Each camp includes an animal-related educational activity and at least one animal meet and greet.

We have created a unique experience with the help of artist and teacher Susan Parks for all campers in two age groups for our Spring Break Art Camps. Both Art Camps are a 1-day, 4-hour long camp from 9am - 1pm.

April 4, 2023 Art Camp for Grades 2 - 4:  Campers will create art using layered crayons and color pencils on Heavy Paper.  Art pieces will be inspired by artist Nellie Mae Rowe, currently on exhibit at the Hunter Museum.  Through her inventive use of color, space, and form, Rowe realized fantasy-like landscapes in her drawings and paintings.  This art camp is perfect for young creative minds with big imaginations!

April 5, 2023 Art Camp for Grades 5 - 6:  Campers will create art using brightly colored acrylic paint on canvas. Art pieces will be inspired by popular Pop Art that utilizes recognizable imagery, bright colors, and innovative techniques.  Campers will select a shelter pet to paint.
